Our Favorite Destinations: Quissett Harbor

Twelve miles SSW of Kingman Yacht Center, the last harbor to port as you approach the Buzzards Bay entrance to Woods Hole Passage is as if you had painted an image of the ideal New England harbor from your imagination.

A pastoral setting, bordered by tall hills, beautiful homes and teaming with pleasure boats, Quissett Harbor offers a calm anchorage to the right of the channel as you enter the harbor. Further in there’s little room to anchor, but private moorings are available to rent from Quissett Harbor Boatyard (508-548-0506 or VHF 9). The Boatyard also maintains a dock for short visits, as well as a dinghy tie-up area.

Once ashore take a short, easy hike to The Knob, offering magnificent views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay. The Knob is open to the public from dawn to dusk for bird watching, strolling, beach combing, and swimming.

There are no restaurants in Quissett, but a short walk up the road from the boatyard will get you to the Whoosh Trolley service to Falmouth or Woods Hole.
