Our Favorite Destinations: Cuttyhunk

20 miles southwest of Red Brook Harbor lies the perfect place to do a whole lot of nothing.  Cuttyhunk Island is situated at the very end of the Elizabeth Island chain, a straight shot down the Bay, and is a favorite destination for fishing and relaxing.  There is a small beach, crystal-clear water, a great harbor, good fishing, a few dozen houses, some great ice cream (!), and many beautiful hiking trails.  Cuttyhunk does not have discos, bars, malls, a singles scene, a party life, video games, parking lots, traffic, or much action.  Instead, you’ll find a quiet, isolated, beautiful ocean environment, perfect for getting in touch with yourself and your family, or just catching up with your reading.

You can call Cuttyhunk Marina (508-990-7578) at the town wharf for short-term dockage.  For moorings, contact Frog Pond Marine (508) 992-7530 or Jenkins Moorings (508-996-9294).  If you decide to spend the night on your boat, be sure to call Cuttyhunk Shellfish Farms (508-971-1120). They’ll deliver ocean-fresh oysters and other raw-bar items direct to your boat! If you’d prefer to stay ashore, the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club offers bed & breakfast accomodations in an incredible setting.

Cuttyhunk is a little piece of paradise.  Once you’ve visited, it will become one of your favorite spots as well ….
