On Thursday, June 24, Kingman Yacht Center officially "cut the ribbon" on its new solar generating facility.

This is the largest commercial solar power installation on Cape Cod, installed on three different buildings at Kingman and providing almost 25% of the marina’s total electrical usage.  The ceremony was centered at our recently-installed informational kiosk, which demonstrates to the public how solar PV works and shows real-time and historical production.

We discussed the implementation of the solar system, how it works, how the state and federal government helped stimulate this implementation, and what the results have been.  In addition, guests learned about the creation of green collar jobs and the focus of stimulating growth and green company clusters.

Honored guests attending the event included State Representatives Matt Patrick, Jeff Perry and Susan Gifford; staff members from Congressman Delehunt's and Governor Patrick's offices and representatives from Bourne's government, business organizations and environmental groups
.
