Cruising Into Kingman.jpg

I want to compliment everyone at Kingman for the great service you provided my family on August 3rd and 4th.

We arrived in Herringbone, our 1980 Cal-39 sloop, at Kingman on August 3rd which was a blustery day.  Just after picking up the mooring we accidentally dropped our dinghy painter and watched it drift onto the tire breakwater.  Without being asked, two of your men got into a whaler, fetched the dinghy, and brought it to us.

Then I asked Chris in your yard office if he could have someone look at our bilge pump, which had failed the day before.  He was very professional and friendly, and quickly set up an appointment for first thing the next morning at the fuel dock.

The next morning I brought the boat to the face of the fuel dock in a strong onshore breeze.  When another client needed to use that dock, 4 Kingman employees showed up to muscle Herringbone around to the side of the dock.  Very friendly, very courteous.

Then Dave, the mechanic, showed up.  He listened patiently to my explanation of the bilge pump problem, explained how he would approach the solution (test the float switch, then the bilge pump, etc.), and promptly got to work.  Dave had respect for our floating home, and did his best to keep it clean while he did a very messy job.

While Dave worked, I asked him about a starter problem I had been experiencing, and he gave me good advice on that topic (probably a bad start-assist solenoid), and inspected our battery bank and made tightened some connections.  He even got a Yanmar schematic from the office and showed me what the start-assist solenoid looks like.

The showers and bathrooms were clean, and my wife loves the canvas bag!

I run a heating oil and propane company, and we compete on the basis of competence and customer service, so I know excellence when I see it.  Thank you for the great service you showed us.  I’m recommending you to all my sailing friends!
