Cruising Into Kingman.jpg

Dear Soundings,

A mechanical failure when cruising away from home port is a scenario none of us likes to contemplate, so when we lost propulsion on our starboard engine in Buzzard’s Bay last week (en route from Martha’s Vineyard to Provincetown), I assumed the worst. Sea Tow directed us to Kingman Marine in Pocasset and the assistance and service we received was truly exceptional. Our two days in Pocasset turned out to be a highlight of our trip.

From the moment we arrived at Kingman, Chris (the Service Manager) and John (the Yard Manager) were on top of our situation and made our stay exceptionally pleasant. Parts were on order that afternoon, and Kingman put us on blocks overlooking beautiful Pocasset Harbor and Basset’s Island, connected our power and invited us to be their guests until the parts arrived. The Chart Room restaurant and the bar overlooking the harbor are not to be missed, and our stay in Pocasset turned into a welcome change to our planned itinerary.

Tim, the Kingman mechanic, did an exceptional job on the repair and we left after a short sea trial that confirmed all was back in order. The work was done promptly and we were on our way just hours after the parts arrived. Our confidence in the work could not have been higher as we departed for the Cape Cod Canal to continue our trip.

Rarely have we experienced service at the level provided by Kingman Marine. We are adding Pocasset to our summer destination itinerary for the future, and looking forward to visiting the team at Kingman that did such a fine job for us.
