Land & Sea Directions

By Sea:

Use NOAA charts 13236, 13229SC and 13230. Tides: use Newport table +24 minutes for high, -8 minutes for low.  Multiply by 1.1 for height at high or low water. Mean tidal range is 4'.

From the North via Cape Cod Canal/Hog Island Channel: Give Wings Neck 500+ yards of clearance. Clear Q G G "1" at the SE end of Hog Island Channel before heading SE into the harbor.

From the South and West: Straightforward approach except for Southwest Ledge and Seal Rocks which extend to R N "10," about 0.9 nm W of Scraggy Neck. To clear, continue NE in the Cleveland Ledge Channel until more than 1.0 nm N of Fl R 4s R "4".

Entering the outer harbor heading towards Bassetts Island, give RG N "ER" plenty of room. Avoid 5-foot spot just east of the marker.

At R G N "ER":  Two entrance channels, N and S of Bassetts Island. North channel has an 8-ft (mlw) controlling depth and winds through Pocasset Harbor. Stay close to all buoys and don't cut corners. South channel (controlling depth: 6-ft mlw) leads directly into Red Brook Harbor and is less confusing.

Kingman Yacht Center sits E of Bassetts Island, with mooring field to port (N) of the channel running into the harbor. Marina monitors VHF channel 71.
